I went to Manchester Metropolitan University to a day long event hosted by the Department of Information and Communications in conjunction with the BSC in Web Development. The day was organised by Richard Elskins who started teaching web design back in 1996.
The programme is currently up here, although I would imagine that this link will die.

Mike Rankin from InDesignSecrets.com has made some neat little apps using AppleScript for zipping and unzipping ePub, Docx, Indl, and Fla files on Mac computers. These file types are based on the zip file, so they can easily be zipped open with an archive utility (just change the file extension to .zip).

On August 27, global e-book community Wattpad issued its latest metrics report, a frequently referenced international survey of e-reading habits. Among findings, the report notes a rapid acceptance of the iPad as an e-reading device and a high majority of US residents among English-language e-book consumers.
