Structuring the eBook and exporting to PDF, XML and ePUB

Anchor and Chains

Tonge IT Suite, Brookes, Gipsy Lane, Oxford

Note: this session changed from the Wednesday starts at 10 am.

In this session we will re-visit the concept of document structure, keeping the style separate.

Composing and laying out our beautiful eBook is important from a design perspective, but we also need to be sure that the structure of the content will result in good quality, well-formed XML. As publishers, we need be sure that we can re-use the ebook in some future form of technology.

In this workshop session we will examine the methods of 'tagging' the document with InDesign and then exporting as XML. We will analyse the resulting XML and learn how we can improve this by making some changes to the way we use InDesign.

What happens when we export from InDesign to Adobe Digital Editions?
