Project Collaboration
I gave a presentation yesterday on using online tools to manage projects and collaborate effectively. The arrival of Web 2.0 and web applications, means that there are now an amazing number of free tools available to manage projects online.
furthermore...
I did more research for the talk and noted that Google now provides lots of collaboration tools. All that needs to happen now is that Google need a suite of project management tools like Basecamp. They already have 'docs and spreadsheets', calendars and Groups, so linking these together with some time tracking features would be an obvious bonus for Google account holders.
Still Basecamp is best for the moment, and I prefer it over Zoho which I trialled for this presentation. Of course, you cannot really be expected to form a genuine opinion about these tools unless you really manage projects with them. I am a paying account holder for Basecamp and have become very familiar with it. We are now using basecamp for students taking the module - New Product Development on the masters publishing programme.
