Marsedit Version 1 NOT version 2

I just upgraded my Marsedit version 1 to version 2 for a princely sum of $9.

After wasting a whole afternoon trying to get it to work properly with ExpressionEngine,

I have now gone back to version 1!

You would have thought that a newer version would have done the job better, but no. What went wrong and how have I configured it to work?

Two things went wrong:

I lost the’excerpt’ - this translates to the ‘Summary’; field if you have one and it seems to send HTML into the fields.

Why would I use a clint web publisher at all? The manin reason is that it beconmes very easy to report news items on the web by reading with Netnewswire and then snipping the link through to a section of my site.

I have, however updated Netnewswire to version 3.1.
