Google Print and Publishers
Oxford Publishers were lucky enough to get a view on Google’s print ideas at the OPUS meeting in Oxford. Nikesh Arora of Google Europe gave a very relaxed presentation which explained the ideas behind Google’s massive project to digitize all of the world’s literature!
furthermore...
Actually, he didn't say that but this seems to be the idea. Google is place we all go to search the web and so it makes sense to give results from the inside of books. Googles plan is to scan books and make the text searchable the book would then be shown in extract form (the amount is under the control of the publishers) and a link provided to purchase the book. Google are doing this for nothing and some questions from the audience seemed to show a lack of trust of Google's motives.
