Coda-ing
I am now using Coda.
Used up the tryout period and have now committed some money for real!
What a tremendous tool this is but wait.... I still have some niggles. I love it but how can I deal with all the other lovely tools that now clutter my applications folder. What shall I do with BBedit? And what of TextMate? My students need to use Dreamweaver (unfortunately), so I still need to know all about that too.
furthermore...
I have been using BBedit for years now and have grown accustomed to all of the features. I have used it in combination with Interarchy to edit templates, CSS and code both online and locally. Some resless thing within me wanted to take a look at these other editors and I now have before me Coda and TextMate.
I look forward to using both and experimenting wit them to see if they help the creative juices. Here is a list of thoughts:
- When showing code to students in presentation, I have always found BBedit a pain because it is very difficult to enlarge the text. Along comes Textmate and all you need to do is hit shift-apple+ and the text will grow and grow ... same with CODA....
- Colours and Themes and much better in Textmate and Coda. Superficial, I know but it helps in a teaching context.
- Search. I'll be holding on to BBedit. It does search and compare files better than any other.
