Adobe GoLive is GoDead
During the Adobe Live event today at London’s Olympia, Jim Guerard, Vice President of Web and Video told the audience that ’the future is Dreamweaver’.
After Adobe’s acquisition of Macromedia, the software giant found themselves with several products that have hitherto been in fierce competition. Adobe’s GoLive and Macromedia’s Dreamweaver have been the alternative choices for WYSYWIG web editors. Jim Guerard was not announcing the end of GoLive, and indeed, he suggested that there would be a new version sometime, however, Dreamweaver would be the software bundled with any Web Designer Suite. The implication of this is surely don’t stick with GoLive
furthermore...
Other software was mentioned; Illustrator will be preferred over Freehand and there was diplomatic avoidance of the decisions over Director and Fireworks. Flash and particularly Flash Video was talked up and I heard it described as Adobe Flash more than once!
