Authoring with Authority
At an event organised by NMK (New Media Knowledge) in London, Johnnie Moore explored ‘authority’ in Blogging. Do you believe me? Well. if not, you could always check out the programme here.
This was a splendid event. Very informal, very friendly and good close-up discussion. It occured to me (and others), that we were beginning to make real contact with fellow bloggers more and more ...
furthermore...
Can you believe what you read? Who do you think I am anyway? The session at the 01zero-one Centre in Soho was advertised as "Blogging: A Real Conversation". And this is a pertinent question for those have a lot of hits and then a lot of comments. I don't. But I don't mind. I do this because I enjoy creating something and see it grow. I guess it can only be called a conversation if you get comments! The afternoon kicked off with an introduction from Steve Bowbrick, who acted as chair and master of ceremonies. We were soon into a beehive anology from Sabrina Dent, Mink Media. I like it - bees do a little wiggle and others follow. Then they all wiggle and even more follow. Blogging redefined as swarming.Rafael Behr gave us some useful background on the life of a newspaper blogger. He wondered what will happen to the blogosphere when the big media players really start to use blogging. It seems that right now, they are doing it without really understanding it! Thanks for info on the LA Times Wikitorial, which I didn't know about. Suw Charman did a splendid job on a subjective view of the word objective. I am really jealous that I haven't had the time until now to post this up. She has a much more substantial report on this event here. We both must read Everything Bad is Good for You by Steven Johnson. This is the second mention I have heard of this book this week! Suw said we can't be objective but we can be:- thorough
- accurate
- fair
- transparent
