eBook to Digital edition - Adobe Reader 7 is out!

As of today you can download version 7 of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. The first thing that I noticed was that no more is there any reference to eBooks, rather ‘Digital Editions’.
What’s in a name? You may ask. There could be a danger of inconsistencies but if you go from the Reader, ‘Adobe Digital Editions’ menu you will find lots of references to eBooks and references to eDocs and Digital Magazines. Clearly Adobe wanted to find a term of expression that would cover more than just eBooks.

For MAC users a significant improvement is that PDFs online will now open within the browser instead of as a separate Reader application. I await my update to Acrobat professional to see what new authoring features are going to be available. I have a good idea because of my experience here And, what do we all think of the logo? I guess it must be part of something! Well - nobody ever said that icons needed to be recognisable. It could be part of a letter 'A' or maybe 'R'. In fact it just represents a magnified view of part of the earlier icon. Perhaps Adobe are in the middle of modifying their web site tonight because the link to Adobe Reader 7.0 User Guide (PDF: 2.8M) - gets us the Reader version 6 help document!Posted on 22 Dec around 9pm
