iPad grows in online e-book community

Independent Books says:

On August 27, global e-book community Wattpad issued its latest metrics report, a frequently referenced international survey of e-reading habits. Among findings, the report notes a rapid acceptance of the iPad as an e-reading device and a high majority of US residents among English-language e-book consumers.

Along with Amazon announcing its new Kindle, the major — and I mean, epoch-making — news in digital publishing in these circles last week was when Wylie, a literary agent, finally made good on his threat to bypass publishers by inking a deal giving the exclusive e-book rights to his agency’s backlist to Amazon, through his imprint called Odyssey Editions.

The more I talk to people about the uber index idea, the more I realize the significant effort required to create and implement it, particularly in the e-reader app.  I still believe it's a viable solution for rich content, but maybe it's not something we'll see in the short term.  So how about a few simple thing between now and then?
