eBook Indexes & User Interface Features

Joe Wikert's Publishing 2020 Blog says:

The more I talk to people about the uber index idea, the more I realize the significant effort required to create and implement it, particularly in the e-reader app.  I still believe it's a viable solution for rich content, but maybe it's not something we'll see in the short term.  So how about a few simple thing between now and then?

Book design is not ebook design

Mary Griffith (author of Viral Learning, writes:

I’ve learned quite a bit about graphic design, especially book design, over the past couple decades—just enough to be dangerous, I suppose, but certainly enough to do a workmanlike job on Viral Learning, at least. My do-it-yourself design certainly wouldn’t win any design awards, but it’s good enough to keep it from irritating me every time I try to read any of it. Given how picky I am about text looking decent, that’s no small thing.

Create EPUB eBooks with Adobe InDesign

I have noticed that Adobe are putting up some very useful resources to help in the process of building eBooks with the ePub format. Here is a recent post ob the Adobe blog:
